Someone at work was giving away old Halloween costumes. After we finished laughing hysterically at Joan wearing a ladybug costume meant for an 8 year old (night shift has to stay awake somehow), I found these gems. A ninja costume complete with fake muscles and a Snow White complete with a wig that feels creepily similar to real human hair. Isabel was beyond thrilled to "FINALLY" have a dress that covers her feet. (So much so that she would only shuffle in it--not take actual steps thus risking foot exposure.)
Milo was so creeped out by Isabel's wig that he repeatedly ran from the room and begged her to take it off.
We showed our Ram pride by going to the CSU Homecoming parade on Friday. It was oodles of fun and the kids still can't believe that a parade really consists of wacky people in wacky costumes throwing gobs of candy at your head.
Yesterday, we went to the "Butterfly Gabillion" as Milo calls it with the Summer, Kennedy, Sophie, Lacey, and Holden. The kids held a tarantula (okay, Isabel held it) while the moms tried to fend off hyperventilation.
They got to touch horseshoe crabs, sea stars (formerly known as star fish), hermit crabs and a few other sorta creepy water creatures.
We admired gabillions of butterflies. We also listened to an "interesting" (for all the wrong reasons) talk by one of the butterfly keepers.
Finally, we climbed around the fake honeycomb, stamped our little exploration books, and headed home. WHEW.
What a busy week it's been. :)

Did they really change the name of star fish to sea stars? or is that what I&M call them? And I can just imagine why a butterfly keeper could be interesting for all the wrong reasons :) I heart people watching. I wish we lived close enough to explore with you guys!
I love Isabel. She is so funny! Shufffling her feet and the picture of her in the wig had me laughing hysterically. So funny. Thanks for putting up with crabby mc crab pants again (Kennedy) we always have a fun time with you guys. And by the way "could you guys in the front please be quiet" freak!
Love, love, love those kids! They look wonderful! There's nothing better than FREE costumes!
I must say, you are an awesome mom! Look at all the fun things you do with your kids! Letting Isabel hold a trantula though?? EEK! I would have freaked! I can't believe she did it! Looks like you guys had fun though. And way to go on the costumes!
What a fun and busy week. Seiing Isabel with dark hair is so strange!
What a fun mom you are!
Sounds so fun! Those horseshoes crabs are ava's favorite, we have never seen one that big though. Wish we were there!!
Too funny, Issy cracks me up with the shuffling! If I would have had that dress when I was little I would have been shuffing too. I love that Milo was not a fan of the wig LOL!!!
Oh my gosh! Seeing Isabel with dark hair was such a shock! They both look darling in their costumes, and you are the best Mom ever for doing so many fun things with your kids!
Ais, apparently "star fish" is not the true name--they are really "sea stars". Apparently, they are not fish at all. However, the are stars. And they are from the sea. Hence, they are sea stars. (One of the many things that we learned on that little adventure--thankfully, it wasn't from the butterfly keeper with the all-powerful microphone.)
EmmaLee gets pretty excited about dresses that cover her feet, too.
Erin, Do you want me to put your links on my blog? I would love to, so just let me know! Season
