Isabel, the future mermaid, at about 15 months.Isabel got her first pair of glasses right around her first birthday. Milo got his about a year and a half later. It's been an adventure--of sorts--ever since.
When the kids are in the tub, it's a constant battle between "we want to wear our glasses because we can't really see squat without them" and "we can't wear our glasses in the tub because they get all steamed up". When the latter happens, we put their glasses on the counter until they're out of the bath.
Friday, we were driving home from the gym when Isabel said (in her most urgent voice), "Mom, if I am a mermaid when I grow up, what will I do with my glasses?! They will get all steamy!! What am I supposed to dooooo??!!!" Trust me when I say that there was true panic in her voice at this prospect. While I was fumbling for an answer and trying not to laugh, Milo responded with, "Issy, you just put them on the counter!!" Not one to be easily placated, Isabel followed up with, "Milo! There are no counters under water!" The rest of the drive was a heated almost-four-year-old discussion about the legitimacy of counters under the sea.
Their conversations are so funny--and heated.

A world I know too well. Just wait until you have to unload the dishwasher and clean the shower.
So dang funny! Can you let her know that she can try disposable contacts? Not to worry, she has options. I mean, she will have to wear googles, but still. Doable.
I guess mermaids just have 20/20 vision, because, seriously, what would a nearsighted mermaid with an astigmatism do...Lasix?
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Milo (NOT dumb at all) and Issy (NOT a twin of anyone dumb) and vow to more closely monitor the snarkiness and sarcasticness of my comments in the future.

And isn't she so adorable in her little bikini!!!! I miss the days when you were only 20 minutes away!!!
At least she is looking to the future (however unlikely it may be). Brooke is planning to go back in time and turn three again in order to get her sippy cups back.
Glasses??? What is she going to do without feet?!
